Introduction |
| |
|
 |
Richard Barr and Company, Inc.
(RBCI)
was established in 1986 to perform
architectural services for clients who
desired greater personal involvement
from their architect. This Personal
Service approach has afforded the
firm many opportunities to work on
many varied commissions.
In 1988 Richard Barr and Company
moved into the Crescent Center Office
Building located at Poplar Avenue and
Ridgeway in Memphis, Tennessee.
Being led of the Lord, in 1998, RBCI
increased it’s service area by providing |
|
|
permanent representation in East Tennessee. Further establishing this presence RBCI
opened an office in
Knoxville, Tennessee in the
Landmark Buildings North Tower in the
fall of 2000. Likewise, in 1999 RBCI provided professional staff to the Middle Tennessee
region with the goal of opening a permanent office in Nashville, Tennessee.

During the past 18 years, our personal service approach has afforded the firm
opportunity to have as clients many varied corporations, commercial developers and
churches. While we have extensive experience in Office, Medical and Retail building
design, 10 years ago the company focused on Religious Architecture as a specialty. |
|
|
The diversified experience derived from commercial commissions and finding success in
designing to developers budgets, (pro-forma’s) influenced our approach to, and
appreciation of, the clients project budget. We understand our roll as “Investment
Advisors” in the proper utilization of the Owner’s resources. |
| |
The first and foremost premise of the firm is understood in the verse “and whatever
you do whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to God the father through Him.”-Colossians 3:17 |
| |
Secondly, that we are to be Stewards of the resources God has entrusted our
clients, and finally the belief that people work together as a TEAM to produce a
project, Client, Architect, Consultants and Contractor. In light of this we have three
principal goals in our firm. |
|
1. We are to be good stewards of our clients’ resources
We understand where these resources originate
2. Client, Architect, Consultants and Contractor work together
as a Team to
produce a project
The Team concept is imperative to be successful
3. The Client’s program is more important than the designer’s ideals.
When there is a conflict of the two, design is rethought. |
